| Warning Points when Installing the EDFC Motor |
![]() When installing the very popular EDFC, the system that lets you adjust the damping force within the vehicle, remove the damping force adjusting dial, found at the tip of the shock absorber. Replace the Del screw inside the piston rod with the one for the EDFC, and then attach the motor (Photo 1).
When installing the motor, the hexagon shaped holes in the Del screw and the hexagon shaped part of the motor pivot has to be perfectly set then tightened or else only the motor will be tightened and the motor pivot will bend and even cause damage to the motor itself (Photo 2).
Because you can not actually see and confirm that the hexagon shaped parts of the Del screw and the motor pivot are perfectly matched in place, this problem may occur. But to prevent this from happening, when replacing the EDFC Del screw, place the Del screw so you can confirm the position of the hexagon shaped holes and hold in place (Photo 3). Hold the motor pivot in a position where you can confirm the hexagon shaped parts are secured in place, and then gently tighten (Photo 4). When doing this, the motor is extremely unstable until it is set in place with the piston rod, so please be careful not to bend the motor pivot. Also, please take care when tightening, so that the wiring of the motor does not get caught on or be cut by anything in the engine room. If by chance the motor pivot or the motor is damaged, repairs are not possible and the motor itself has to be replaced.
