Upper mount clearance for the HONDA FT (GD1)/ TOYOTA VITZ (NCP91)
For the HONDA FIT (GD1/ GD3), you may use wagon shock absorbers or HIGH.TECH etc but when combining with OE upper mounts, there will be a few millimeters of clearance between the body and the lower part of the upper mount, at 1G. There is no need to worry, because this gap also exists with the OE shock absorbers. (Photo 1) If you have it lifted up fully rebounded, this gap (clearance) will not exist. This is the same for OE or TEIN shock absorbers. (Photo 2)
At 1G, if you keep turning the steering wheel, the clearance amount will change accordingly.
(Photo 3) shows the mount on the right side with the steering fully turned to the right.
The same situation, can be seen in (Photo 4) for the left mount.
We receive many inquiries from customers regarding this clearance asking “Is this normal?”, but most of them have never seen the situation with OE shock absorbers. We ask the customer to view the photos of the clearance and reply saying “there are no abnormalities.” For some vehicles, the above mentioned does not apply because the rubber seat covers the gap (clearance).
