Rear Damping Force Adjustment for MINI
EURO DAMPER has 16-levels of damping force adjustment as one of its main features. Due to the limited space of the vehicle, the damping force cannot be adjusted for MINI R50(RA16) R53(RE16) in the rear by turning the click by hand or click tool.
Therefore, when adjusting the damping force for MINI, the EDFC(Electronic Damping Force Controller) becomes extremely handy.
It allows adjustment of the damping force from the driver's seat.
The EDFC adjusts the damping force by turning the motors installed on each damper, which are regulated by a controller placed near the driver's seat Although the MINI has very limited space in the rear, there is enough space for the EDFC motor.
Once installed, the damping force can be adjusted easily.
Upon EDFC installation, the motors need to be installed onto the shock absorbers, and checked for proper operation before installing into the vehicle. When installing the shock absorber, place the upper mount spacer included in the kit, between the body and OE upper mount. This spacer has an opening for the EDFC motor cables, to lead into the tire house.
By using this spacer, the cables from the motors can be lead into the tire house, and then into the vehicle's interior for connection to the controller. Therefore, EDFC makes it possible to adjust the damping force without leaving the driver's seat.
Please note that if you do not wish to install the EDFC, you will need to remove the shock absorber from the vehicle, adjust the damping force by turning the click, and then reinstall the shock absorber.
Caution: The shock absorbers were designed with the upper mount spacer in the rear; so, please use it even if you do not install EDFC.
